Form an anti-contraband working group

There are a host of groups and people active in the community who share the common desire to bring an end to contraband tobacco: public and semi-private organizations, public health and safety organizations, as well as recreational and camp groups for children, chambers of commerce and other business groups, not to mention the Optimist Club, the Knights of Columbus, the Kiwanis, Lions and Rotary Clubs, among others, and last but not least, the convenience store owners themselves.

A dynamic and engaged MP looking to eliminate contraband is the best person to get these groups together in order to work with one another and coordinate local anti-contraband efforts. At the committee level, a situational analysis needs to be conducted, as well as awareness-raising activities and initiatives to reinforce the application of the law.

All these activities will go a long way in reducing the level of contraband tobacco on a local level.
